There are still 8 circuses in the UK that use animals from Ducks to Elephants.
These animals spend their lives being transported up and down the country in windowless lorries, in which they live, day in day out, year after year.
Their only escape is being led to a tent where they are either "entertaining" the public or being brutally "trained" learning moves, tricks and un-natural routines.
Numerous undercover investigations have found that they are often taught to perform these tricks through pain and punishment.
The animals natural insticts are never taken into consideration and due to the cramped, dirty, un-natural conditions and daily verbal and physical abuse, it is hardly surprising they quite literally go out of their minds, displaying mindless repetitive behaviours caused by stress, boredom and frustation.
Circus animals have very few laws that protect them. Official inspections are few and far between and they are exempt for legislation that covers zoos and keeping of dangerous animals as pets.ment.
WARNING - The very nature of travelling animal circuses and the close proximity of often dangerous animals to the public, means that these establishments can never be entirely safe. Around the world, members of the public, including children, have been killed and maimed after attacks by circus animals. Lions, tigers and elephants have been known to escape from circuses and people have died as a result.
Animals will spend years being abused, neglected, beaten and starved of their natural dietry requirements. All so that people can be "entertained" for an hour.
